Nikki Kimball is an ultra runner attempting to set the fastest known time on the Long Trail, a 273-mile footpath through Vermont that claims to be America's oldest long-distance hiking trail. The film follows her attempt to outrun the existing record, tracking her days on the trail through steep climbs, sleep deprivation, and the physical breakdown that comes with running that distance without a real break. Support crew and family appear alongside her, managing food, gear, and the logistics that keep an attempt like this from collapsing at mile fifty. The film stays close to the physical reality of the effort: blistered feet, exhaustion, and the mental negotiation required to keep moving when the body wants to stop. It treats the record attempt as the spine of the story, using Kimball's pace splits and condition on the trail to mark whether the record is actually within reach.
