An economic system built on debt, perpetual growth, and central banking is the target of this film, which argues that conquest, war, famine, and death are not random disasters but the predictable output of how money itself is created. Director Ross Ashcroft assembles a roster of dissenting economists and thinkers, including Noam Chomsky, Joseph Stiglitz, Herman Daly, and Max Keiser, to trace how fractional reserve banking and interest-bearing debt concentrate wealth and destabilize nations over time. The film moves from the 2008 financial crisis back through classical economic theory, drawing on thinkers as varied as Adam Smith and Ibn Khaldun to argue that today's orthodoxy has abandoned its own founding principles. Talking-head interviews are cut with archival footage of bank runs, protests, and central bank press conferences. Rather than blaming individual bankers or politicians, the film's case is structural: the system rewards short-term extraction and punishes the productive economy. It closes by naming alternatives, from Islamic finance to full-reserve banking, as evidence that other designs are possible.
