Prateek Reen grew up in a mountain village in India, in a family that lost nearly everything in a fire. She now runs Madam Chutney, her own restaurant in Munich, at a time when an Indian woman running a restaurant is still almost unthinkable back home. The film follows her daily routine in the kitchen and dining room, tracing how she rebuilt a sense of security after childhood poverty by carrying her family's recipes with her, written on scraps of paper, and turning them into a business in a country not her own. Interviews with Reen and footage of her cooking and serving customers trace the practical steps of opening and running a restaurant as an immigrant, alongside the more personal story of what home and stability mean after loss. It is a small, specific portrait of migration told through food rather than statistics, focused on one kitchen and one woman's account of starting over.
