A young woman answers a modeling agency ad in Spain, gets her flight and lodging paid for, then has her papers confiscated on arrival and is forced into prostitution, first in Spain, then Germany, told she must work off her travel debt. This DW documentary follows the investigators trying to stop it: Sebastian Eichler of the Mainz Criminal Investigation Department poses as a client online before revealing himself as police, while Carmen Gonzalez of Spain's Policia Nacional describes dismantling one trafficking network and suspects Colombian cartels have moved into the trade. In Wiesbaden, Manuela Schon's Women's Affairs Department tracks the shift toward women being sold out of private apartments and hotels, and argues for a Swedish-style ban on buying sex, a model France has also adopted despite continued trafficking there. The film closes at a UN-convened congress in Vienna, where more than thirty survivors testify about the poverty and coercion that fed their exploitation. Interviews with police, officials, and survivors carry the reporting throughout.
