Marseille's drug trade generates over €30 million a month, and this film follows the police units trying to choke it off, from the Anti-Narcotics Office to specialized street squads targeting the city's roughly 200 open-air sales points, some of which turn over €100,000 a day. In the first half of 2021 alone, officers arrested 8,000 traffickers, 60 percent of them carrying weapons. Cameras ride along on raids into the northern neighborhoods, where gangs run drug points with corporate-style hierarchies enforced through shootings and executions, and the film sets that violence against the money's second life, laundered into real estate, luxury boutiques, and legitimate businesses across the city. Interviews with officers describe the tactical and legal limits of fighting a trade this entrenched, while grieving families describe losing relatives, gang members and bystanders alike, to the conflict. The picture that emerges is of a parallel economy so large it has its own infrastructure, its own casualties, and its own uneasy truce with the rest of the city.
