Oktoberfest runs on jobs that have traditionally gone to men: running beer tents, hauling rickshaws, operating carousels. This short DW film follows three women doing them anyway. One manages a giant beer tent, keeping order among drunk crowds and staff twice her size; another pedals a bicycle rickshaw through chaotic, sometimes hostile customers; a third owns and runs a carousel at the fairground, a business she took over in a male-dominated trade. Interviews with each woman cover what the work actually involves day to day, the physical demands, the harassment they sometimes face, and why they keep coming back season after season. The film also touches on efforts to make the festival grounds a safer space for women working there. It is a brisk, on-the-ground look at labor and gender inside one of the world's largest beer festivals, told through the people doing the sweating rather than through statistics or historical framing.
