High School: An Exposé of Teenage Cannabis Use

17 MIN · EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Ben Grayzel turns his camera on his own school, Grover Cleveland High School, to ask how many students are actually smoking marijuana and why. Interviews with students, and apparently staff, form the backbone of the film, with subjects describing when they started, how easy the drug is to get, and how normal it has become in hallway conversation. Grayzel treats the school less as a scandal to expose than as a case study, using one campus to stand in for a broader question about teenage drug culture that adults in the building may not fully see. The short runtime keeps the focus narrow: no national statistics parade, no anti-drug lecture, just a student filmmaker asking his peers direct questions on camera and letting their answers sit. It plays like an amateur but sincere piece of campus journalism, the kind of document that would otherwise never leave a school archive, offering a rare first-person snapshot of how teenagers themselves talk about marijuana rather than how adults talk about them.
