How Steve Jobs Changed the World

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Steve Jobs died in October 2011, and this film assembles interviews, archival footage, and product launch clips to trace how a college dropout from Silicon Valley reshaped computing, music, and phones. It follows the arc from the garage where Jobs and Steve Wozniak built the first Apple computers, through his ouster from the company in 1985, his years running NeXT and Pixar, and his return to Apple in 1997 to rescue a company on the brink of collapse. The iMac, iPod, iPhone, and iPad each get treated as turning points, with commentators explaining how Jobs fused design and engineering in a way rivals struggled to copy. Colleagues, journalists, and industry figures describe his perfectionism and his temper alongside his instinct for what consumers would want before they knew it themselves. The film keeps its focus on impact rather than biography, asking what the technology landscape would look like without him and using Apple's product history as the answer.
