Coeur d'Alene, North Idaho, has become a magnet for a political and cultural movement calling itself the American Redoubt: a coordinated migration of conservatives, preppers, and religious separatists seeking distance from what they see as an increasingly hostile federal government and collapsing cities. The film follows the people relocating to this corner of the Pacific Northwest, from families buying land and stockpiling supplies to organizers building the networks meant to knit these transplants into a self-sufficient community. Interviews with residents lay out the ideology behind the move, part survivalism, part political statement, and the film sits with the tension between the region's quiet, idyllic image and the more combative worldview taking root inside it. Local scenery and small-town life sit alongside talk of secession, self-reliance, and what happens when a place is deliberately chosen as a refuge from the rest of the country.
