Thekla Schünemann and Lars Nowak have been a couple since childhood and have rarely spent a day apart. Both have Down's syndrome, and their relationship unfolds at a residential facility in northern Germany that lets residents decide for themselves who they want to live with, sleep with, or love, rather than leaving those choices to staff or family. Konstantin Kluss, single and eager to change that, turns to an online dating platform built specifically for people with disabilities, and the film follows his search for a partner. Interviews with residents, caregivers, and family members lay out how support for intimacy and relationships is often missing in institutions and homes, even though the need for it doesn't disappear along with independence. The facility profiled here operates as something of an exception, treating sexuality and companionship as ordinary parts of life rather than problems to manage. The film stays close to its subjects' daily routines and conversations, letting Thekla, Lars, and Konstantin describe their own hopes in their own words.
