Three groups operating in Ireland form the spine of this investigation: Christina Gallagher's House of Prayer in Achill, Co. Mayo, the Church of Scientology, and the Palmarian Christian Church, a Spain-founded sect with an Irish following. Reporters go undercover into the House of Prayer to trace the money behind Gallagher's lifestyle and to test the credibility of her claimed prophecies about the world's future, while also questioning the people who run the organization in her name. On Scientology, ex-members describe how new recruits are drawn in and kept paying, and the film asks what pulled a figure like Tom Cruise into the organization. The Palmarians segment looks at the sect's wealth and a rule structure strict enough to separate children from their parents. Interviews with former members and psychologists run throughout, addressing why people join high-control groups and why leaving proves so difficult, alongside the legal and family fallout these organizations leave behind. The three case studies sit side by side as a survey of how belief, money, and control intersect in Ireland's fringe religious scene.
