Jesus in Islam
Jesus, known in the Quran as Isa son of Mary, appears there by name twenty-five times, six times more often than Muhammad. This film lays out the Islamic account of his life: a virgin birth attributed directly to God's decree, a ministry among the Children of Israel marked by miracles such as healing the blind and raising the dead, and an ending that breaks sharply from the Christian story. The Quran holds that Jesus was never crucified, that he only appeared to die, and that God raised him up rather than allowing his enemies to kill him. Muslim tradition adds a second act: Jesus returns near the Day of Judgment to defeat a false messiah called Masih ad-Dajjal and restore justice. Throughout, the film stresses what Islam denies as much as what it affirms, rejecting his divinity and sonship while insisting he was a genuine prophet, a link between Moses and Muhammad, and a figure Muslims are required to believe in as an article of faith.
