Keith Allen Will Burn in Hell

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Actor and provocateur Keith Allen travels to Kansas to sit down with the Phelps family, the founders and leaders of the Westboro Baptist Church, known for picketing funerals with signs declaring God's hatred of gays. Allen interviews Fred Phelps and his daughter Shirley Phelps, letting them lay out their theology of damnation in their own words before pushing back, and the exchanges curdle fast, sliding from calm scripture-quoting into shouting matches as Allen loses patience with answers he finds monstrous. The film follows Allen's own visible discomfort as much as it follows the Phelps family's certainty, using his reactions as a stand-in for the viewer's. There is no narrator smoothing things over; the tension comes straight from the interview footage, filmed in the church's Topeka compound and on the picket line itself. It plays less like a balanced investigation than a confrontation, and it is upfront about that from the start.
