Killing Bin Laden

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Scott Pelley sits down with a former Navy SEAL using the pseudonym "Mark Owen" for an exclusive interview about the 2011 raid on Osama bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. Owen was inside the building when bin Laden was shot, and he walks Pelley through the mission minute by minute: the helicopter approach, the breach of the compound walls, the climb up the stairs, and the seconds inside the room where the world's most wanted terrorist was killed. Pelley presses him on details that had been disputed in other accounts, including who fired the fatal shots and what bin Laden did in his final moments. The interview format keeps the focus on testimony rather than reenactment, letting Owen's recollection carry the story while Pelley's questions supply the skepticism and context a viewer needs. It is a firsthand record of one of the most consequential special-operations missions of the post-9/11 era, told by someone who was actually in the room.
