Last Minutes with Oden
Jason Wood spends his dog Oden's final hours with him after cancer has run its course, and the filmmakers are there to record it. The camera stays close as Wood talks to Oden, strokes him, and sits with him through the last stretch of a life spent together, with no narration imposed over the moment. There is no experiment here and no wider argument, just a small, complete record of what it looks like when someone chooses to be present for a pet's death rather than look away from it. The film runs only a few minutes but plays as a finished piece, framed and edited as a short elegy rather than a home video. It became widely shared online for the way it handles an ordinary, private grief without sentimentality added on top, letting Wood's own words and Oden's stillness carry the weight of the ending.
