Two young people face the same question from opposite directions. Paul, non-binary and living in the Philippines, dropped out of university and now earns a living through online drag performances, but sees no future at home and dreams of emigrating to the US to build a career and support family. The grandmothers who raised Paul worry about the plan, unsettled by their grandchild's way of life and fearful of what awaits abroad. In Iraq, Houda wants to stay close to home even as an older generation insists that a real future only exists elsewhere. The film cuts between the two lives, using handheld footage of Paul's performances and quiet conversations in Houda's household to let each side make its case without narration doing the arguing. Part of DW's Us & Them series, it treats generational disagreement over migration as a lived, specific negotiation rather than an abstract debate, ending with both families still unresolved.
