Long Way Round

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman set out from London on motorcycles, aiming to reach New York by riding east through Europe, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Siberia, and Alaska before crossing Canada and the United States. The route avoids the easy Atlantic shortcut on purpose, sending them through mud tracks in Mongolia, checkpoints in the former Soviet republics, and stretches of Siberian road that barely qualify as roads at all. A small support crew, including cameraman Claudio von Planta, travels with them, and the footage stays close to the daily grind of the trip: bike breakdowns, visa problems, border guards, and the exhaustion of riding twelve hours a day for months. McGregor and Boorman are open about their friendship fraying under fatigue and about how unprepared they were for some of the terrain. The series treats the motorcycles less as the point than as the excuse to get two friends into places tourists don't go, and the people they meet along the way, from Mongolian herders to Siberian truckers, end up carrying as much of the story as the ride itself.
