Loop Dynamics and a Geometric Solution of Planar QCD - Lecture II
Alexander Migdal, speaking at the Institute for Advanced Study's Bloomberg Lecture Hall, continues his two-part treatment of planar QCD through the lens of loop dynamics. This second lecture builds on the geometric framework for Wilson loops in the planar limit, working through the equations governing loop evolution and arguing that the large-N limit of QCD admits a geometric solution distinct from the standard perturbative or lattice approaches. Migdal develops the mathematical structure linking loop equations to surface dynamics, addressing how confinement and area-law behavior emerge from the geometry rather than being imposed by hand. The talk is aimed at researchers already familiar with gauge theory and the planar (large-N) limit, moving through derivations on the board with minimal simplification for newcomers. It runs just under two hours and functions as a working seminar rather than a survey, suited to viewers wanting the technical argument in full rather than a summary of results.
