A team of explorers pushes into one of the last unspoiled jungles on the planet, the forests of Guyana, searching for species and discoveries no one has recorded before. Steve Backshall and a climbing team make for the summit of an unclimbed tabletop mountain on the forest's edge, camping rough on top while they survey what lives there. Wildlife camerawoman Justine Evans tracks giant anteaters through the undergrowth, while another pair, George and Gordon, fight their way up a remote jungle river to a stretch of rainforest where the animals show little fear of people. The series cuts between these three expeditions rather than following one narrative thread, so climbing footage on bare rock gives way to close encounters with anteaters and canoe work on white water. The draw is the access: a tepui summit rarely if ever visited, and a river system isolated enough that its animals have not learned to be afraid.
