The Mennonites share much with their better-known Amish cousins: plain dress, horse-drawn transport for some communities, and a deliberate distance from mainstream American life. This film looks at how that separation actually works day to day, following families who farm without modern machinery, worship in close-knit congregations, and raise children to value humility and community over consumption and technology. It contrasts stricter Old Order groups, who reject cars and electricity much like the Amish, with more progressive Mennonite communities that drive, use phones, and hold jobs outside the community while still keeping their faith central. Interviews and observational footage show church services, farm work, and household routines, giving a sense of what the choice to opt out of modern conveniences actually costs and gives back. The film treats the community as neither a curiosity nor a cause, just a way of life shaped by religious conviction, and lets the daily details, chores, dress, prayer, carry the explanation of why it persists.
