Mexico City holds 22 million people, making it the largest Spanish-speaking city on earth, and this film follows a handful of residents who show how the place actually runs day to day. Lalo Garcia, a chef deported from the United States as an adult after growing up there as the child of undocumented field workers, has rebuilt a career in a country he barely knew. Angel Palafox, a former pilot, now runs a private ambulance, one of many that chase police scanner calls and Facebook accident reports because the public system cannot cover a city this size, some outfitted with real medical equipment, others little more than souped-up vans handing out business cards outside hospitals. The camera also follows a trans activist, a city-appointed 'bicycle mayor' pushing cycling infrastructure, and lucha libre wrestlers performing for crowds. Interviews and observational footage move between neighborhoods, street food stalls, and Michelin-starred kitchens, building a portrait of a city that survives on improvisation as much as on its history and culture.
