Miracle of the Hudson Plane Crash

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

On January 15, 2009, US Airways Flight 1549 loses both engines to a flock of Canada geese less than two minutes after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport. Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles have seconds to decide between turning back and ditching, and choose the Hudson River. This film reconstructs the 208 seconds between the bird strike and touchdown, using flight data, air traffic control recordings, and interviews to explain how the crew kept the plane level enough for all 155 people aboard to survive. Ferry captains who diverted within minutes to pull passengers from the wings and life rafts get their own account of the rescue, and aviation investigators walk through why the water landing worked when so many similar attempts have failed. The film treats the flight less as a stunt of heroism than as a case study in training, procedure, and a few crucial decisions made correctly under pressure.
