In the Himalayan segment, kids cross narrow mountain paths with sheer drops. The Siberian chapter follows children through subzero cold on frozen rivers and snow-covered tracks, sometimes with temperatures cold enough to freeze exposed skin in minutes. The Mongolian herders' children ride horses across open steppe with no roads or markers to guide them, while in Nepal the route means fording rivers and climbing steep, eroded trails above villages with no other access. Each segment sticks close to one or two kids and their families, showing the daily routine rather than a single dramatic trip, and lets parents explain why they accept the risk: there is no other way to reach a school. Shot on location with local crews, the footage carries the film; narration mostly just orients time and place.
