Mumbai Golf: A Course Through the Streets and Slums

Caddies at one of Mumbai's upscale golf clubs have built their own version of the game on the side, using clubs and balls fashioned from scrap and improvised gear rather than anything sold in a pro shop. Their course is not a manicured fairway but the city itself: alleys, rooftops, open lots, and the packed streets of the slums that surround the wealthy club where they work by day. The film follows these caddies as they play their invented sport, showing how a game associated with private clubs and country estates gets reinvented by the people who service it but can never afford to join. It is a short, plainly shot television piece rather than a feature, but it captures a real contrast: the exclusivity of Indian golf culture on one side, and the ingenuity of its workers on the other, turning discarded materials and crowded public space into a playable course of their own design.
