Inside a UK forensic pathology lab, a team of scientists and Egyptologists sets out to reconstruct the embalming methods used on pharaohs during Tutankhamun's era, working from residue analysis, tomb paintings, and ancient texts rather than guesswork. They pack the body in natron salt, remove organs through the traditional incisions, and test resin and oil combinations, tracking exactly how the corpse changes over the following months. The film treats Alan's donation as a genuine act of scientific generosity, cutting between the clinical procedure and interviews explaining why each step mattered to Egyptian priests trying to preserve a body for the afterlife.
