My Big Breasts and Me

56 MIN · EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

Large breasts sound like a punchline until the women in this film explain what carrying them actually costs: chronic back pain, rashes, stares on the street, bras that have to be special-ordered, and a running calculation about which clothes will hide the size everyone notices first. The film follows several women, from teenagers embarrassed by early development to adults considering reduction surgery, as they talk through how their bodies shaped their sense of self long before they had any say in it. Surgeons and psychologists appear alongside them, discussing the physical toll of the weight and the emotional weight of unwanted attention, plus the realities of reduction surgery itself, scarring, recovery, and the mixed feelings that can follow an operation meant to fix a lifelong source of anxiety. Interviews are frank and unglamorous, favoring honest testimony over sensationalism. What emerges is less about breasts than about the gap between how a body looks to others and how it feels to live in.
