Germany's military calls the aftermath of Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine a "turning point," the moment its armed forces were meant to pivot from decades of light peacekeeping toward defending national and NATO borders. This film follows four soldiers living that shift day to day. Yannick trains on a new tank. Samira is one of the recruits the army badly needs and struggles to attract. Andreas flies a reconnaissance aircraft that is thirty years old along NATO's eastern flank. Joachim, a lecturer, has to explain to his troops what the turning point actually demands of them. Interviews and footage inside barracks, cockpits, and training grounds lay out the gap between political rhetoric and the personnel shortages, aging equipment, and budget limits units contend with on the ground. Rather than debating strategy from above, the film stays at eye level with the people asked to fight a war the German military spent a generation not preparing for, and asks whether the turning point is real or mostly declared.
