Neele Buchholz has built a career most people with Down syndrome in Germany are never offered: television roles, feature films, stage work, and nine years as a company dancer with a theater in Bremen. The film follows her decision, made early and backed by her parents, to skip the sheltered workshops usually assumed to be the only option for disabled adults. "I said, 'No, I don't want that because it's boring,'" she recalls. Cameras track her through castings and script sessions, where she describes needing more time than an industry that wants everything "quickly, quickly, quickly" is willing to give. Her ambitions extend beyond performing: she wants to start her own company so she can pay her assistants properly and secure a permanent rehearsal space. That plan gets tested when illness threatens the independence she has spent her career building. The documentary stays close to Neele's daily routine and her own account of the barriers she meets, rather than framing her as a symbol, and ends with her future still unresolved.
