The North Sea Giant is a subsea construction vessel built for one job: lowering and installing heavy equipment on the ocean floor with millimeter precision. This film follows its crew during their most demanding assignment yet, installing the final component of the world's first underwater natural gas compression station, sunk 300 meters beneath the Norwegian Sea. The station, part of a $3 billion project covering an area the size of a football field, is designed to extend the working life of 11 gas wells by 20 years. Cameras follow the engineers and divers coordinating cranes, thrusters, and remote vehicles as they thread the component into place against currents and pressure that leave no margin for error. The film explains why Norway's oil and gas industry is pushing compression underwater rather than on surface platforms, and shows the scale of planning, from control room to seabed, needed to pull off a job most people never see happen at all.
