In October 2017, astronomer Robert Weryk spotted a strange object through Hawaii's Pan-STARRS telescope, moving too fast to have originated in our solar system. Named Oumuamua, Hawaiian for a messenger from afar arriving first, the object became the first confirmed interstellar visitor ever observed, and its odd elongated shape and unexplained acceleration set off a scientific argument that never fully settled. This film brings in the astronomers who tracked its trajectory and tried to classify it as comet, asteroid, or fragment of a shattered exoplanet, alongside Harvard's Avi Loeb, who argues it might have been an artificial probe. Telescope footage, simulations of Oumuamua's tumbling flight, and interviews lay out the competing models and why each one fails to fully account for the data. The film treats the object's strangeness as genuine, not sensationalized, following the evidence through years of debate rather than settling on a single answer. Oumuamua is already gone, hurtling back out of the solar system, leaving only its data behind.
