Prehistoric Europe left behind tombs, henges, wooden trackways, and stone circles that mark territory as much as they mark belief, and this film treats those structures as evidence of a spiritual relationship with land that modern life has mostly lost. It traces how pagan communities used monument-building to define boundaries and express a conviction that the natural world was not separate from human life but embedded in it. Wooden circles and burial mounds appear as case studies in how belief gets written into landscape rather than scripture, each structure read as a deliberate claim on a particular hill, river, or clearing. The film connects this ancient practice to a present-day pattern: people leaving cities for the countryside in search of something they cannot quite name, a pull the film argues is the same instinct that raised the henges in the first place. It stays close to the monuments themselves, using their placement and construction as the primary evidence for what these communities believed about the ground beneath them.
