Jacque Fresco, the self-described social engineer, futurist, inventor, and industrial designer behind The Venus Project, lays out his case for scrapping money, politics, and law in favor of what he calls a Resource-Based Economy. The film walks through his diagnosis of the current system first: scarcity built into markets on purpose, decisions made by financial and political elites rather than by evidence, and technology held back because it threatens jobs and profits rather than because it fails to work. Fresco's alternative applies scientific method and automation directly to production and distribution, aiming for abundance calculated against what the planet can actually sustain rather than what a price system allows. Concept renderings of Venus Project cities and infrastructure illustrate what this would look like built, paired with narration explaining the reasoning behind each design choice. Original music from Carly Paradis runs under the presentation. The film is explicit that it is not the feature film the project has long promised, but a short primer meant to introduce newcomers to the proposal before that larger work exists.
