South Yorkshire Police is working under budget cuts and one of the toughest reputations of any force in the country, and this film follows the neighborhood policing team assigned to Sheffield's most difficult district. Officers on patrol and senior commanders both get camera access, showing daily calls that range from routine to volatile. In some Sheffield neighborhoods, longtime white and Asian residents are colliding with recently arrived Roma families from Eastern Europe, and the film records the tension building toward violence. Elsewhere, officers describe an anti-social behavior problem that keeps growing faster than they can respond to it. Commanders speak plainly about triage: which calls get answered, which get deprioritized, and what that means for a street where residents expect a visible police presence. The film does not resolve the argument it raises, whether a force this stretched can still do the job asked of it, but it stays with the people trying to answer that question on shift, radio in hand, in real neighborhoods under real strain.
