In Senegal, tailor Abdoulaye weighs whether to attempt the journey despite friends warning him off, aware that the trip across open Atlantic water to avoid coastguard patrols can take many days and that overloaded boats often sink or drift off course, leaving passengers to die of thirst. On the islands themselves, cemeteries are filling with graves marked only as unknown migrants. Reporter Tessa Clara Walther visits the archipelago's smallest island, where mayor Juan Miguel Padron describes a community straining under the sheer number of arrivals, from housing to basic services. The film moves between the departure point and the destination, letting a would-be migrant's hesitation and a mayor's exhaustion sit side by side as two views of the same crisis.
