Koun survived the Khmer Rouge and once danced professionally; now she teaches children to revive Cambodia's Royal Ballet, a tradition the regime tried to erase by killing most of its master performers. The film follows two of her students: Sre Cha, aiming to master the role of the White Apsara, a divine dancer central to Khmer classical repertoire, and Kmao, a boy from the slums working toward the role of Hanuman, the white monkey hero. Rehearsals, temple carvings of apsara figures at Angkor, and interviews with Koun trace the line between ancient sculpture and the gestures still taught today, showing how the dance form was nearly lost and how a generation of survivors rebuilt it hand by hand. The camera stays close to the training itself, the corrections, the discipline, the slow progress from awkward student to something resembling the temple reliefs, making the restoration of the Royal Ballet feel like a direct act of cultural survival rather than a museum piece.
