Shingal, the Sinjar region of northern Iraq, is where Daesh fighters drove entire communities from their homes, and this film follows what happened to the children caught in that displacement. It stays close to their accounts: families scattering ahead of the advance, towns and villages left empty, and the daily uncertainty of life after being forced out. Interviews with young survivors carry the film, describing what they saw as Daesh took control of the area and what it has meant to grow up displaced rather than in Shingal itself. The film does not reconstruct battles or offer outside analysis of the wider war in Iraq and Syria; its focus stays narrow, on children's own memories of loss and on the conditions they now live in as displaced people. It ends without resolution, since the families it follows have not gone home.
