Tanzania unfolds through three people who each have their own reason for being there. Javed, a photographer, works the coastline and markets of Zanzibar, chasing light and color in the old stone town and its harbors. Pascal, a retired professor of natural history, brings decades of field knowledge to Tarangire National Park, reading the landscape for elephants, baobabs, and the seasonal rhythms that draw wildlife to its rivers. Simon, a marathon runner, trains in the shadow of Mount Kilimandjaro, using the mountain's altitude and terrain as a test of endurance. The film moves between these three threads rather than following a single narrator, letting each person's expertise frame a different piece of the country: the Indian Ocean coast, the savanna interior, and the highland approach to Africa's tallest peak. Footage stays close to the people doing the work, whether that is composing a photograph, spotting an animal, or covering ground on foot, building a portrait of Tanzania out of ordinary days rather than postcard summary.
