After 41 years in Seattle, the SuperSonics play their last NBA season in the city and relocate to Oklahoma City, where the franchise becomes the Thunder. This film traces how that move happened, built by Seattle fans through the Seattle SuperSonics Historical Preservation Society rather than a studio or network. Interviews carry the story: Gary Payton and George Karl talk about the team on the court, state senator Slade Gorton and team executive Brad Keller walk through the ownership sale and the arena fight that preceded it, and writer Sherman Alexie and broadcaster Kevin Calabro speak to what the franchise meant to the city off the court. Local news footage fills in the public hearings and the legal maneuvering that let the sale go through. The soundtrack comes entirely from Seattle-area hip-hop artists, an unusual choice that ties the film to the city it is mourning. It won Best Sports Film at the 2010 Webby Awards. The film's case is that Seattle lost the team through a series of specific, traceable decisions, not bad luck.
