In northern Ghana, children born with disabilities are sometimes labeled spirit children, believed to be evil forces bringing misfortune to their families, and killed as a result. Ghanaian investigative reporter Anas Aremeyaw Anas, working undercover for Al Jazeera's People & Power series, sets out to find and identify the people carrying out these killings, tracing how the practice survives despite decades of advocacy from NGOs and Ghanaian authorities. The film lays out the conditions that sustain it: poverty, isolation, and traditions passed down in remote communities with little outside oversight or education. Anas treats the killings plainly as infanticide rather than as some separate, culturally excusable category, and pushes toward accountability, naming names where he can and pressing officials on why enforcement has produced only marginal results.
