Timo Kaukonen lives in the deep forests of northern Finland and has won the Sauna World Championships four times. The contest he competes in has one rule: whoever sits longest inside a sauna heated past 140 degrees Celsius wins, and everyone else has to leave. Director Thomas Hilland follows Kaukonen as a local hero built around an oddly punishing skill, one that rewards nothing but the ability to endure extreme heat longer than the person next to him. The film treats the championship itself as the spectacle, staying with the competitors as the temperature climbs and the field of contenders shrinks.
