Sweden has taken in more asylum seekers per capita than almost any other European nation, opening its doors wide to people fleeing war in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan. This film follows that policy on the ground, asking Swedish officials, residents, and newly arrived migrants how a small country with a long tradition of openness copes with a sudden, record influx. Interviews range from politicians defending the welcome policy to citizens uneasy about strained housing, schools, and social services, and to migrants themselves describing what they left and what they found. The film does not settle the argument; it lays out the tension between a national self-image built on generosity and the practical costs of testing that generosity at scale. What emerges is less a verdict than a snapshot of a society mid-experiment, straining to reconcile its values with the numbers arriving at its borders.
