The Arab Awakening

EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

The Arab Spring erupted in 2010, toppling long-standing rulers across North Africa and the Middle East within months. This series looks at what fed that wave of uprisings and what came after it. Rather than treating the revolts as a single sudden event, the films trace the grievances, networks, and flashpoints that built for years before crowds filled squares in Tunisia, Egypt, and beyond, then follow the uncertain aftermath as old regimes fell and new power struggles took their place. The structure moves country by country, using footage from the protests themselves alongside interviews with people who lived through them, to ask a plain question: what next, once the old order is gone? It is less interested in celebrating the uprisings than in tracking the harder, messier politics that followed, when the unity of revolution gave way to competing factions and unresolved questions about who actually inherits a revolution.
