Steve Powers spent his early career as ESPO, one of New York's best-known graffiti writers, before turning that same eye for lettering toward hand-painted signs. The film follows him at work, brush in hand, laying out gold-leaf lettering and old-school storefront type by hand rather than vinyl or digital print. Interviews trace how his graffiti instincts, working fast, working public, working with limited materials, carried over into a craft that most cities let die out decades ago. Powers talks about the difference between tagging a wall illegally and being paid to paint a sign that a shop owner will live with for years, and what that shift cost and gave him. The camera stays close on the physical process: mixing paint, snapping chalk lines, correcting a stroke mid-letter. It is a short, focused portrait of one artist's move from the street to the storefront, told mostly through his hands and his own account of the transition.
