Inside Auschwitz, Dachau, and other camps of the Third Reich, SS doctors ran experiments dressed up as science: twin studies, sterilization procedures, hypothermia and altitude tests, and genetic research aimed at proving racial theory. The film centers on Josef Mengele's work at Auschwitz and the wider network of camp physicians who treated prisoners as expendable test subjects, using survivor testimony and archival footage to reconstruct what actually happened on the wards and in the barracks set aside for these programs. It traces how ordinary medical credentials and institutions were bent toward the Reich's ideology, turning hospitals into sites of torture with clinical paperwork attached. Survivors describe the procedures done to them and the people who did not survive them, and the footage includes camp records and postwar tribunal material used to establish what the doctors knew and ordered. The result is a plain account of how scientific language and institutional authority were used to justify cruelty, and of the physical and psychological damage that outlived the war.
