Social media influencers have driven demand for these stones into a full-blown boom, and this film traces that demand back to its source in the Global South, including the mines of Madagascar. Interviews and on-the-ground footage lay out who actually digs the quartz and gemstones that end up polished on a nightstand or sold as a self-care ritual, and under what conditions. The gap between the marketing, stones as symbols of calm and empowerment, and the labor behind them forms the film's central tension.
