Fiji's 322 islands sit directly in the path of the Pacific's most powerful storms, and this film opens with the wreckage Cyclone Winston left behind in February 2016, entire villages flattened in a single night. Warming oceans and rising seas compound the damage, bleaching and killing the coral reefs that local fishing communities depend on for food and income. The film follows residents who have already been forced to relocate, and others facing that decision now, tracing what moving a village does to the social ties and traditions built around a specific patch of land. Interviews with islanders sit alongside footage of storm damage, reef surveys, and resettlement sites, building a picture of a place absorbing repeated shocks rather than one catastrophic event. The documentary treats Fiji as a preview of what low-lying island nations elsewhere may face, asking what survival looks like when the geography itself keeps working against you. It stays grounded in specific villages and specific storms rather than abstraction.
