Sierra Leone's civil war runs from 1991 into the early 2000s, and this film argues that the story told about it in the Western press, a chaotic tribal conflict finally pacified by British troops and UN peacekeepers, leaves out who profited. Diamonds are the thread it keeps pulling: control of the mining regions where the Revolutionary United Front fought the government, and the foreign companies and governments with a stake in who controlled them. Archival news footage of the intervention sits alongside interviews questioning the official narrative of a rescue mission, building a case that the international response served outside interests as much as it served Sierra Leoneans. The film treats the British-led military operation and the UN presence not as a clean humanitarian success but as one more chapter in a longer history of outside powers deciding Africa's fate. It is a pointed argument rather than a balanced survey, told from the side that says the intervention was never neutral.
