Channel 4 recruits seven British men to test how ordinary people hold up under Guantanamo-style interrogation, then hands them over to Team Delta Cadre, a group of retired US Army interrogators led by a founding member of Delta Force. The volunteers include three Muslim men, a firefighter, a Thai kickboxing champion, a triathlete, and an Oxford philosophy student, each given a false identity and a scenario to protect for up to sixty hours. The cadre uses techniques officially sanctioned for Guantanamo detainees: sleep, food, and water deprivation, stress positions held up to twenty minutes, white noise piped in for up to two hours, hooding, and forced nakedness. One participant, identified only as Prisoner 73, describes lying shackled and shaved on the floor with a cold fan at his back, questioning what his signed consent form actually meant. The film also notes an uncomfortable finding: the reenacted scenarios Channel 4 requested often worked against Team Delta's own plan, which had already extracted eighty percent of the target information within the first few hours.
