The USS Enterprise, the U.S. Navy's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, sails on its final deployment after more than fifty years of service. Commissioned in the early 1960s, the ship took part in nearly every major American conflict of the Cold War and post-Cold War era, from blockade duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis to carrier operations in the Middle East. The film follows the crew through the ship's decommissioning, showing the flight deck, engine spaces, and ceremonies that mark the end of an era for a vessel that outlasted the careers of generations of sailors who served aboard her. Archival footage traces the carrier's long operational history alongside present-day scenes of the ship being retired, giving a sense of scale for what it means to take a nuclear-powered warship this size out of service. The focus stays on the Enterprise herself, her crew, and the practical business of closing out a career spanning half a century at sea.
