The Long Road to Tripoli – Part 2

2011 · EN · STATUS: [ STREAMING ]

The second installment picks up with Ibrahim and his father Abduladim as they join fighters from the UK and Libya pushing into the Western Mountains during the 2011 uprising against Muammar Gaddafi. The film centers on the fight for Kikla, a town whose position makes it a key objective for rebel forces trying to open a route toward the capital. Handheld footage follows the fighters through shelling, makeshift checkpoints, and the strain of a front line that shifts by the day, while interviews capture Ibrahim and his father weighing loyalty to family against the risks of combat neither trained for. The film stays close to this one family and their unit rather than zooming out to strategy or politics in Tripoli, which gives the fighting a personal, often improvised feel. Kikla's capture becomes the episode's turning point, presented not as a triumphant set piece but as a costly, uncertain step in a war whose outcome is still unclear to the people living through it.
